LIPOSCULPTURE
LIPOSCULPTURE AND POST OPERATIVE CARES
|
|
 |
|
 |
After the patient has undergone a liposculpture procedure he or
she enters the post – operative, which has three phases, the
first one the immediate post-operative, followed by the mediate
post-operative, and last the late post-operative.
Once the surgical procedure has finished, the treated areas
begin to swell because of the trauma caused in the surgery and
to the normal accumulation of blood, this edema can and should
be controlled with the use of special wraps or bandages.
The patient is dressed with wraps designed to exert pressure to
control the edema and the bleeding (look up article on
liposculpture wraps). The patient is placed in a position that
helps relieve the pain and is hydrated; all this is done under
the supervision of the specialist.

Once at home the edema will keep swelling and on the third day
after the operation becomes more evident, but from here on it
starts to diminish. During all this time the patient has to wear
the wraps, rest in a position which prevents the swelling, apply
ice, take analgesics and antibiotics, drink plenty water and
walk. I recommend a soft diet, low in fats and carbohydrates.
Three days after the operation the patient takes a shower and
once again is dressed with clean bandages, and special creams
are applied.
The post operative check ups are done in my office, as frequent
as considered necessary. If stitches were necessary, I remove
them from the face after five days, if on any other part of the
body, after a week. By this time the swelling has gone down so
the patient will wear smaller wraps.
My recommendation is to have lymphatic drainage done starting a
week after the operation, this is done by our medical staff
and also our technologist specialized in phisiatry and cosmetry.
The number of sessions will depend of each case and of the
criteria of the specialist.
The use of external ultrasound, mesotherapy, carboxitherapy,
after the liposculture is of great help if the patient sees
small imperfections or small fat deposits in the skin and wishes
to improve it.
The special girdle has to be worn for at least a month.
A month after the operation the swelling will be almost gone,
and the results will be noticed as time goes by, the definitive
results will be fully appreciated in a year.
You must be careful with what you eat, if you wish to maintain
the results of your procedure, your diet has to be a low in fat
and carbs. Now if you want to improve the results and also your
health, then working out is a must, Cardio workouts are the best
and also those that strengthen the muscles, you can start
exercising after a month.
Remember, liposculpture is a surgical procedure to improve the
body contour; it’s not a procedure to lose weight rapidly. The
patient has to prove he or she is an ideal liposculpture
candidate by committing to change his or her life style, which
is the only way to guarantee that the results will last.
