Abstract
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a known clinical entity with
a neurobiological basis, whose diagnosis and management
has been controversial in the last decade, with risks of overdiagnosis
and, sometimes, underdiagnosis. Symptoms are variable in severity,
appear in infancy and can persist in adulthood, interfering in quality
of life. An adequate diagnosis and early management will avoid
complications as poor school performance, low self esteem, and certain
degrees of comorbidity. Management is multidisciplinary and, in
the majority of cases, successful. It requires fund of knowledge, hard
working team, patience and perseverance.
