Breast pain before
menstruation. Why does it occur?
|
The pain and swelling of
the breasts by congestion of blood
vessels and ducts are called mastodynia
or mastalgia. It is common in the
premenstrual tension syndrome, and some
women may be the only symptom of this
condition.
Although some women have a different
degree of sensitivity of the breast in
the second half of the menstrual cycle,
mastodynia term is reserved for
intolerable symptoms unrelated palpable
abnormality in the breast exam, except

tissue.
The swelling, increased sensitivity and
pain in the breasts, women who present
during the ten days prior to
menstruation, is probably due to
distention of the ducts and swelling of
these, because estrogen and progesterone
( female hormones)
All these changes, as the symptoms
disappear during menstruation. Treatment
is very gentle diuretic use, avoid
drinking coffee, tea, chocolate, colas,
etc..
The use of vitamin E has been relatively
successful.
